About Dick B. and Ken B.

Dick B., JD,CDAAC–29+ years of continuous sobriety in A.A.

At Stanford Law School, Dick B. began to become addicted to prescription sleeping pills. Many years later, he also became an alcoholic.

After more than 30 years as a lawyer, Dick’s law practice crashed around the end of 1985; and he joined A.A. on April 21, 1986.

In early 1990, a young Christian AA named John asked Dick: “Hey, Dick! Did you know that A.A. came from the Bible?”

Dick devoted the remaining 25 years of his life, from 1990 until his death in September 2015, to researching A.A.’s history to find the answer.

Dick B.’s best-known title, “The Good Book and the Big Book: A.A.’s Roots in the Bible,” definitively answers John’s question.

Ken B., M.A.

Dick B.’s son Ken worked closely with Dick from 1990 until Dick passed away in 2015.

Ken builds on Dick B.’s A.A. History research presented in Dick’s 45 published titles, 1,750+ articles, audio talks, and videos.
